FAQs

  • Are you having a difficult time letting go, have worries which keep you up at night, impeding grief, sadness that impacts your functioning, or difficulty connecting to others? Therapy can provide the support you need, help improve problem-solving skills, enhance coping to help you navigate through your daily fuss in a more productive way.

Therapy can help you with depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved grief, trauma, stress management and interpersonal conflicts. The benefits you obtain depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn. What you put in is what you are going to get out. It can only be as effective as you want it to be.

  • It is like getting on a rollercoaster, being scared to pieces, but then enjoying the ride and wanting more when you get off. This is what therapy is like… it is scary at first, as you begin to get to know the person sitting in front of you, and as you begin to open up and share your thoughts and feelings in a trusting, nurturing environment, the fear dissipates. Once you have built rapport and established trust, it can be the most exhilarating and empowering experience. This is a collaborative process. So let’s sit down, talk and create a plan that will address your needs and likes.

  • Not everyone requires medications. But Meds and Therapy can be besties! Indeed, in certain situations medications are imperative. When we experience extreme agony, sadness, grief, anxiety… many times we feel overwhelmed, like we are in the middle of an ocean, drowning. Medications can help us float to the top, but therapy can help us swim to shore. Once you have more clarity, you are able to work through the cause of your distress and the behavior patterns that curb your progress. You can best achieve sustainable growth and a greater sense of well-being with an integrative approach to wellness.

  • Beginning January 2022, healthcare providers are required to provide their clients, who do not use their insurance for services, with an estimate of the costs for treatment. You will be provided with a written estimate of what your costs could be if you continue in treatment for a duration of a year. GFE is not a contract, and you are not obligated to continue in treatment. For more information, please visit No Surprise Act.

  • Currently, we do not take insurance as a direct form of payment. However, it is possible for your sessions to be covered by your insurance, partly or in full, under your “out of network” benefits. If you would like to use your insurance for your therapy sessions, we can provide you with a monthly Superbill, (aka Statement for Reimbursement) for you to submit directly to your insurance company for partial or full reimbursement. To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers. Here are some helpful questions you can ask them:

    • What are my mental health benefits?

    • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover a year?

    • What is my deductible and how much has been paid towards my deductible up to this point?

    • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider per session?

    • Is approval required from my primary care physician (preauthorization)?

Please note that insurance companies may place a limit on the number of sessions allocated for you. Although at times it could be substantial, not everyone heals in a set number of sessions. Some people may need a longer time to heal than others. Also, when working with insurance panels, they require a mental health diagnosis, which in some cases may not be fitting. Please be mindful of some restraints and restrictions which may play a role and impact the therapeutic process.

  • This is something only you can determine. But you won’t know what it is all about unless you try it. Unfortunately, there is still a stigma in this world about mental health and mental illness. However, there is a movement to fight back.
